Sampdoria vs Fiorentina Match Analysis and Prediction

In ther midst of a race for European qualification, Fiorentina’s final away game of the 2021-22 campaign sets them on a trip to Stadio Luigi Ferraris to take on Sampdoria on Monday.

The hosts have not confirmed the safety yet with twm matches left of the Serie A season, while Fiorentina bounced back from four straight defeats to beat Roma last time out, keeping their top-six dream alive.

Sampdoria have been winless if five matches either side of victory over Genoa in the Derby della Lanterna, and have defeated only Serie A’s bottom two since the middle of February.

Still sitting within range of the bottom three, the finishing line is at least in sight for the Blue-circled, but it has been a despicable campaign at Marrasi.

Sampdoria’s 21st loss of the league season came at the hands of Lazio last weekend, as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Stadio Olimpico.

Marco Giampaolo has certainly struggled to turn things around since returning in January, and with Fiorentina and Inter still to play, a successful end to the season is unlikely.

Before Serie A’s second last round commenced, Fiorentina were locked together on 59 points with both Roma and Atalanta, and remain in the hunt for a return to continental competitions when the action concludes next weekend.

La Viola have conceded at least once in each of their last 14 Serie A away matches, and despite their status as European contenders, they have won just a third of their away matches this season.

However, before the meet Sampdoria, Vincenzo Italiano’s side have won seven of their last nine league encounters with sides in the bottom six of the standings. They have also claimed maximum points from three of their last five encounters with Sampdoria, including a 3-1 win at the Franchi in November’s reverse fixture.

Giampaolo hopes to have on-loan midfielder Stefano Sensi available to feature, after he missed out last weekend with a muscular problem.

Sebastian Giovinco and Manolo Gabbiadini are both still sidelined, while Francesco Caputo should start as the lone striker, with veteran forward Fabio Quagliarella likely to feature from the bench.
