Sampdoria and Atalanta will get their 2022/23 Serie A campaign underway when they face off at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium on Saturday night.
Sampdoria had a poor campaign last season getting embroiled in the survival fight for most of the campaign before eventually finishing 15th, three places and six points above the drop zone.
They will be looking to improve this season and fight for the mid table places and do so they will need a good start to the campaign. They have had a decent pre-season period playing three matches, where they drew two and won one.

Meanwhile Atalanta also had a poor and inconsistent campaign that saw them finish eighth, missing out on the European football by three points after getting involved in the top four conversation at some point in the campaign.
La Dea will be looking to improve this season and return to challenging for the Champions League places and they know they need a bright start to increase their chances of achieving that.
However, heading into the opening clash Atalanta suffered defeats in the last two pre-season matches to Newcastle 1-0 and Valencia, and have much to amend before the Saturday tie. They have had an upper hand in this fixture in the recent times winning their last three Serie A matches against Sampdoria and will hope to keep the run on Saturday night.
