Both Salernitana and Juventus will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face off at the Stadio Arechi in the Serie A 15th round on Tuesday night with kickoff at 22:45.
Newly-promoted Salernitana have experienced nothing but a tough welcome back to the Italian top-flight as the club has recorded just two wins in their 14 matches so far, while have picked up two draws and 10 defeats in the process. They currently occupy the last spot in the Serie standing with eight points to their name and are three points adrift off safety.
Salernitana have been out of the top-flight for two decades and will be glad to be back and welcoming Juventus to Stadio Arechi in good spirits as they salvaged a precious point in the battle of the bottom two last Friday. The Granata will be thankful to Sampdoria loanee Federico Bonazzoli who put them level at 1-1 against Cagliari late in the second half in the match. Prior to the draw Stefano Colantuono’s side were coming off three consecutive defeats and Stefano would have been delighted with draw and anything other than a defeat in the Tuesday’s clash will be a bonus for the Salerno who face Milan in their next match.
Meanwhile Juventus have made a slow and disappointing campaign this season having recorded six wins, three draws and five defeats in their 14 league matches so far to collect 21 points, which have left them occupying the seventh spot in standings with 14 points behind Napoli who sit three points clear at top Serie A.
Juve’s disappointments continued last weekend when their failed to extend their winning run to three matches on the bounce in the Serie A as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Atalanta at home on Saturday night.
The defeat was the second one on the trot and the fourth in seven matches across all competitions as they were coming off a 4-0 humbling at Chelsea in the Champions League last week, but will look to move on quickly having already secured a place in the last 16 of the competition.
A further failure at Salerno would be unthinkable for the Serie a giants who surely must embark on a winning run now or never if they are to revive an ailing campaign.
