River Plate and Lanus will clash this Saturday, with both teams in a buoyant mood after picking up their first wins of the season last weekend with kickoff at 2:30 am.
River Plate won their first match of the season last weekend, beating Union Santa Fe 5-1. Braian Romero scored for the home side in the 22nd minute, but River Plate’s lead didn’t last long.
Julian Alvarez and Agustin Palavecino scored before halftime to put Los Millonarios up 3-1 at half time. Alvarez scored again soon after the break to make it 4-1 before Enzo Fernandez rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.
Currently sitting in 14th place, Marcelo Gallardo will be challenging his side to follow up last weekend’s result by clinching their first home league victory of the season on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Lanus have made a strong start to the season, winning one and drawing two of their opening four matches.
As with Independiente, the visitors’ latest result came on the back of a defeat as they fell to their first loss of the campaign when Atletico Tucuman defeated them 2-1 last weekend.
However, unlike their hosts on Saturday, Jorge Almiron’s side responded superbly in their next outing by beating Colon despite playing with 10 men for the last 20 minutes.
