Real Sociedad will be looking to continue their impressive start to the 2021-22 La Liga campaign when they host Mallorca this Saturday at the Reale Arena pits. Real Sociedad are eyeing a place in the Champions League, while Mallorca’s main goal is to secure the elite division survival.
Sociedad are placed third in the table at the moment, and are level on points with the top-two placed Madrid teams. Real Sociedad have won five, drawn two and lost one of their eight La Liga matches this season, with a total of 17 points.
Real Sociedad are on a nine-fixture unbeaten streak at the moment and they have won two of their last three fixtures, but were held in their most recent outing in Spain by Getafe a very worrying performance being the only team that has failed to beat Getafe so far.
Real Sociedad could move to the top of the La Liga table this weekend if they can claim a home success against Mallorca following that both Madrid teams have tough games coming up in the league.
On the other hand, Mallorca come to this round in the bottom half of the standings, as they have won three times in seven outings this season. Mallorca however claimed a much-needed win against Levante to move up to 12th before the international break ending a four-match winless run.
Mallorca were second in the Segunda division last season to receive the promotion to the top flight and being just 3 points below the fourth placed Sevilla is an indication of the strength of their start. However, coming to this match Mallorca are on a poor head to head performance having lost their last three league games against Sociedad, including both fixtures during the 2019-20 campaign
