The first leg of Spanish Segunda playoffs final is here and sees of Rayo Vallecano take on the in-form Girona in a fight for the last spot in the Spanish top-tier next season. The match is scheduled on Sunday at Estadio de Vallecas with kickoff at 22:00.
Rayo Vallecano are currently enjoying an impressive form after being fairly inconsistent in the Segunda Division this season finishing in the sixth position. However, they head into the match having only lost one match in their last six games including both home and away wins against Leganes in the semifinals.
Rayo won 3-0 in their first leg and 1-2 in the second leg of the semifinals knocking out Leganes who were shambolic in both occasions as Vallecano looked sharp and more clinical and they will want to do the same in this one.
Girona on the other hand finished in the fifth place in the Segunda league standings and eased past Almeria in the semifinals. Girona have now spent two years in the Segunda Division and will be eager to return to Spanish top flight this year but remember they failed on the promotion last year in the finals.
Girona are also currently in a good form as they have not lost in their last ten matches as well as have not lost any of their last five away matches. They are in the finals after seeing off Almeria in the semifinals with 3-0 win in the first leg at home and 0-0 draw in the second leg.
