Rangers vs Ross County Match Analysis and Prediction

Rangers will head into Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership fixture at home against Ross County on the verge on handing over their title to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

The hosts need to pick up maximum points at Ibrox and hope that the Hoops lose to Dundee United if they are to keep their slim chances of retaining the title alive.

The Gers enjoyed a remarkable Premiership campaign last year, but have failed to replicate their league success this season and currently sit 13 points worse of than at this stage last season.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have dropped points in 11 league matches this season, drawing eight times and losing three, including two defeats to Celtic, but were able to record their 25th victory of the campaign when they won 2-0 at home to Dundee United last weekend.

While the title is almost certain to be lifted by Celtic this season, Van Bronckhorst will be keen for his side to build momentum in their final two league matches before preparing for the Europa League final and Scottish Cup final later this month.

Meanwhile, Ross County extended their winless league run to three matches when they lost 1-0 at home to Motherwell last weekend.

The game was running goalless until the 68th minute when a penalty was awarded in the favour of Motherwell after Alex Iacovitti fouled Kevin van Veen. Kevin then converted the resulting spot kick to condemn the Staggies to their 15th league defeat of the season.

Ross County remain in the hunt for a top-four finish, but that result has seen them drop to sixth place in the table, three points behind Motherwell in fourth.

They enter Wednesday’s contest having lost each of their last five league visits to Rangers, conceding at least twice in each defeat and shipping a total of 15 goals.
