York City vs Solihull Moors Match Analysis & Prediction
13/12/2022 10:45 pm
York City will be looking for a victory that will help them extend their unbeaten run to three when they play host to Solihull Moors at the LNER Community Stadium on Tuesday.
David Webb’s newly-inherited side will be looking to win back-to-back league matches for just the second time this season, while the Moors will be hopinh for another win to keep their hopes of plying their trade in League Two next season alive.
Despite an encouraging start to life in the fifth tier of English football, after promotion from the National League North last season, York City have began to find their feet again after experiencing mixed results recently.
City claimed a 2-0 away victory over Woking on Saturday through goals from Sam Sanders and Lenell John-Lewis despite losing Fraser Kerr to a straight red card shortly after the hour mark.
Prior to their much-needed victory, Manny Duku’s 92nd-minute strike salvaged a creditable point for the Minstermen last weekend against automatic promotion candidates Wrexham.
Before their notable point against the Red Dragons, York City suffered a 1-0 defeat to Dorking Wanderers in their final match of November.
After just one victory in 10 matches across all competitions, York City supporters will be hoping for a more encouraging set of performances across the festive period.
Meanwhile, Solihull Moors’ contest against Aldershot will now be played later in the season after Saturday’s scheduled kickoff had to be postponed due to a frozen pitch at Damson Park.
The Moors ended a run of six league matches without a victory against Oldham Athletic at the beginning of December, as goals from Joe Sbarra and Andrew Dallas were enough to seal a 2-1 win.
Considering the prospect of their first-ever campaign in the Football League in the club’s 15-year history, Neal Ardley’s side will head into the contest at the York Community Stadium in the highest spirits after re-entering calculations in the National League playoff picture.
This meeting will be just the second head-to-head encounter since April 2017, in which York City claimed a 2-1 victory, with the sides’ most recent meeting in August ending in a 1-1 draw.
