Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester United Match Analysis & Prediction

31/12/2022 3:30 pm
Manchester United will be looking to make it three Premier League victories on the bounce when they make a trip to Molineux Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Erik ten Hag’s side are currently fifth in the table, one point behind forth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand on the capital club, while Wolves occupy 18th place on 13 points from 16 matches this season.
Wolves have got off to a strong start under head coach Julen Lopetegui, with the Spaniard overseeing victories from his two matches in charge, including the 2-0 win over Gillingham in the EFL Cup on December 20.
The Wanderers the claimed a 2-1 victory over Everton in the Premier League on Boxing Day, with Lopetegui’s side coming from behind to win at Goodison Park.
That result moved Wolves into 18th place in the standings, now just one point behind 17th placed Everton, and Lopetegui’s arrival as manager appears to have given the club an edge.
Wolves have a busy start to January, as they will take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on January 4 before facing Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup and EFL Cup respectively.
Meanwhile, Manchester United enter the contest off the back of a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Tuesday, with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred getting on the scoresheet.
Ten Hag’s side were back in action on December 21 after the World Cup, claining a 2-0 victory over Burnley to progress to the EFL Cup, while they triumphed over Forest to move to within one point of fourth-placed Spurs in the table.
The Red Devils have now won nine, drawn two and lost four of their 15 league matches this season to collect 29 points, and there have been plenty of positive signs following a poor start to the campaign.
Man United have the fifth-best away record in the Premier League this season, picking up 13 points from eight matches, but they have conceded 16 times on the road during the 2022-23 campaign.
