Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Crystal Palace to Molineux Stadium for their Premier League Matchday 28 tie on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.
Wolves were left empty handed for the second time in the Premier League last time out as they surrendered to a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United last Sunday at away, with Tomas Soucek sealing the deal for the Hammers in the 59th minute. Prior to the defeat Bruno Lage’s side were also beaten 2-1 by Arsenal at away, with Wolves giving up a first half 1-0 lead.
As a result Wolves have dropped into eighth with Tottenham leapfrogging them while the gap between themselves and Southampton reduced to five points. However, despite the slump, The Wanderers remain in the mix for a top-four finish as they are seven points behind the fourth-placed Manchester United with a game in hand.
Therefore they will be looking to bounce back on Saturday and will fancy their chances, drawing confidence from their fine home form having won two of their last three matches at Molineux. Also, they have won all their last three home meetings against Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace have been inconsistent this season in the Premier League and continued the inconsistency last time out when they were held to a 1-1 draw with the relegation-battling Burnley at Selhurst Park last Saturday. Palace have now won just one of their last eight top-flight matches picking up four draws while suffering three defeats in the process. As a result Crystal sit in the bottom half 11th, level on 30 points with both Leicester City 12th and Aston Villa in the 13th.
However, the Eagles travel to Molineux in a good mood having progressed to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup following a 2-1 victory over Championship side Stok City last Tuesday night. Therefore they will be looking to build on the win as they look claim a third consecutive win against Wolves.
Although, despite their 4-1 win over Watford at Vicarage Road, their away form still needs a lot of work and have been beaten in their last three visits to Molineux.
