Wolves vs Brighton Match Analysis & Prediction

28/02/2024 10:45 pm

The Molineux Stadium will play host to an all-Premier League FA Cup fifth-round tie on Wednesday night, as Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to their West Midlands base.
The hosts will enter the midweek contest on the back of a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United in the top flight, while the visitors left it late to snatch a point off Everton in a 1-1 draw.
Now on the brink of breaking into European spots – sitting eighth in the table with just a single point separating them from Brighton – Wolves also have the opportunity to return to the continent through the FA Cup, in which they have aleady eliminated Brentford and West Bromwich Albion in 2024.
Gary O’Neil’s side are now just 90 minutes away from reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 2018-19, when they were beaten semi-finalists against Watford.
While Wolves could only score a single goal in their recent victory over Sheffield United, Brighton put five past the Blades in their FA Cup fourth-round tie, prior to which Roberto De Zerbi’s side beat Stoke City 4-2 in their opening match of the competition.
Three of the last six editions of the FA Cup have seen Brighton progress beyond round five – including their run to the semi-finals in the 2022-23 campaign – and if their unorthodox goalscoring pattern is to be followed, the Seagulls will rack up multiple goals at Molineux.
Indeed, Brighton have followed a sequence of scoring at least four times in every other match since their 4-2 beating of Tottenham Hotspur in late December.
Wolves vs. Brighton Head to head
In the 32 previous meetings between these two teams, Wolves have claimed five victories while Brighton have won 15, and they have drawn in 12. Brighton have scored 53 goals and conceded 24 in the process.

Wolves Team News
Sunday saw O’Neil lose no more players to injury in the win over Sheffield United, leaving hamstring victim Matheus Cunha by himself in the treatment room, and there is still no timeframe on his recovery.
All of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Boubacar Traore, Matt Doherty and Santiago should be pushing for starting roles, as will Tommy Doyle, who has been given the nod for each of Wolves’ three games in the FA Cup.
