Wolfsburg Women vs Roma Match Analysis & Prediction

After playing out a 1-1 draw in Italy two weeks ago, Wolfsburg Wome and Roma Women will both be looking to claim all three points when they meet at the AOK Stadion on Thursday.
Although the two teams are currently occupying the top-two spots of their Women’s Champions League group, Wolfsburg are in pole position due to their superior goal difference.
Wolfsburg made light work of their opening two Champions League matches, after they followed a 4-0 victory over St Polten with a 2-0 away win against Slavia Prague.
Those results helped Wolfsburg kick off their 2022-23 campaign with a run of 11 successive victories across all competitions before they were held to a 1-1 draw by Roma.
Ewa Pajor found the equaliser in the 33rd minute after Valentina Giacinti had given Roma an early lead, and neither side could find a winner in the second half.
Since playing out a draw with Roma, Wolsburg have defeated Koln 4-0 and picked up a comfortable 5-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.
Tommy Stroot’s side are now unbeaten in 14 competitive matches this season, and they will be looking to record a third successive victory on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Roma are yet to lose in their first-ever Women’s Champions League, and their impressive form has left them on the brink of qualifying for the knockout rounds.
Roma’s European journey began in the qualifying stages, where they had to defeat three teams, including a penalty-shootout victory over Paris FC.
After kicking off the group stage with a narrow 1-0 victory over Slavia Pague, Alessandro Spugna’s side looked to be heading towards their first Champions League defeat when they trailed 2-0 in their away game against St Polten, but they battled back and claimed a dramatic victory.
While Roma showed that they belonged on the European stage by drawing with the German champions on matchday three, they are also six points clear of Juventus at the top of Serie A, and they will want to continue to build momentum as they aim to extend their unbeaten run to 16 matches across all competitions.
