Watford vs West Bromwich Albion Match Analysis & Prediction

20/02/2023 11:00 pm

Watford’s bid to secure their playoff spot in the Championship continues on Monday at Vicarage Road against West Bromwich Albion, who look to remain in the race for the promotion playoffs.
Although sixth-placed Watford sit two points clear of West Brom in the standings, the visitors possess a game in hand ahead of kickoff.
Slaven Bilic’s side are also on a five-game run without success, but they were within minutes of recording a surprise win at leaders Burnley last time out, ultimately having to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Sitting 14 points adrift of second place having played a game more, automatic promotion is realistically out of question, leaving Watford to focus on trying to make the playoffs.
With just seven points separating the Hornets and 16th place, and many of the teams below them having matches in hand, the pressure will be felt ahead of Monday’s contest.
Carlos Corberan has just committed his long-term future to West Brom, but he is currently overseeing his worst run of form since his arrival in October.
Just four points have been collected from their four most recent matches, West Brom being denied a win over Blackburn Rovers at The Hawthorns by a late equaliser.
Although the Baggies are fancied by many to eventaully secure a spot in the playoffs, they will travel to Vicarage Road having lost their last three away matches across all competitions.
Watford vs. West Bromwich Albion Head to head
In the 34 previous meetings between these two teams across all competitions, Watford have claimed nine victories while West Brom have won 15, and they have drawn in 10. West Brom have scored 57 goals and conceded 41 in the process.

Watford Team News
Bilic may opt to stick with the Watford XI which impressed at Burnley, with Matheus Martins a potential inclusion if Joao Pedro switches to the number 10 role and Ken Sema possibly drops out of the side.
Hamza Choudhury and Hassane Kamara are both two bookings away from a two-game suspension, something which will come into Bilic’s thoughts at some stage.
