Watford vs West Brom Match Analysis & Prediction
20/09/2023 9:45 pm
Watford will be looking to make it back-to-back victories in the Championship for the first time this season when they host West Bromwich Albion at Vicarage Road on Wednesday night.
The Hornets left it late to overcome Birmingham City at the weekend, while West Brom showed little attacking threat in a goalless draw at Ahston Gate against Bristol City.
Watford ended a five-game winless run across all competitions on Saturday by handing Birmingham City their first defeat of the 2023-24 Championship season.
Valerien Ismael’s side sit just 12th after their first six matches, having picked up eight points, meaning they are already eight points behind league leaders Preston North End.
Only Ryan Lowe’s Preston and Norwich City have collected more points in front of their own supporters than Watford so far this season, but no one has played as many home matches than the Hornets in the Championship to date.
West Brom were unable to secure their first away maximum of the season against Bristol City on Saturday, with the Baggies playing out their first competitive goalless draw since the stalemate with Millwall back in April.
The Baggies failed to register a shot on target at Ashton Gate on Saturday, and many supporters questioned why the likes of Jeremy Sarmiento and Grady Diangana were handed only seven minutes off the bench to make an attacking impression.
West Brom will be looking for their first win this season in away league matches, as they have one loss and two draws away from The Hawthorns.
