Vitesse vs Almere City Match Analysis & Prediction
16/03/2024 11:00 pm
Two teams in dire need of a victory will meet at the GelreDome on Saturday night, when Vitesse will play host to Almere City.
The hosts have won just one of their last nine matches across all competitions, while the visitors are winless in three successive matches.
Vitesse were on the receiving end of a comprehesive 3-1 defeat to RKC Waalwijk in Saturday’s encounter between the sides at the Mandermakers Stadion.
Geel en Zwart fell behind to David Min’s opener just shy of the half-hour mark but managed to restore parity through Paxten Aaronson, before strikes from Reuven Niemeijer and Michiel Kramer put them to the sword.
As a result, Edward Sturing’s side remain bottom but one in the Eredivisie standings, five points adrfit of safety with the season heading into the final straight.
Still looking for a first home league victory of 2024, Vitesse will need to get going in front of their fans if they are to steer clear of relegation danger.
Meanwhile, Almere City had to make do with a share of the spoils for the second game running in a 1-1 draw against Utrecht at the Yanmar Stadion on Saturday.
Alex Pastoor’s side opened the scoring in the third minute through Yoann Cathline, but they were pegged back 10 minutes later by Sam Lammers’ equaliser.
Having collected 29 points from 25 matches so far, Almere currently occupy 12th position in the league standings, two points off the top half and a further two adrift of European contention.
Unbeaten in all but one of their last six away matches either side of the New Year, De Zwarte Schapen have proven themselves to be a tough team to beat on the road of late.
Vitesse vs. Almere City Head to head
These two teams have only previously met on one occasion, with Almere winning 5-0 at home.
