Valencia vs Rayo Vallecano Match Analysis & Prediction
12/05/2024 7:30 pm
Valencia will be looking to end their three-game losing run in La Liga when they play host to Rayo Vallecano at Estadio de Mestalla on Sunday.
Valencia remain in the hunt for a European finish in La Liga, with the team sitting eighth in the table, five points behind seventh-placed Real Betis, who are currently qualifying for the Conference League playoff rouns.
However, Los Che’s recent form has harmed their chances of finishing in the top seven, losing each of their last three against Real Betis, Barcelona and Alaves.
Ruben Baraja’s side have been strong at home this season, picking up 29 points from their 17 matches at Estadio de Mestalla, and they will be hosting a Rayo side who have 17 points from their 17 away games in 2023-24.
Rayo have actually lost just one of their last six league matches against Valencia, which was a 1-0 defeat when the two sides met for the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Inigo Perez’s side have lost their last two in La Liga, suffering a 3-0 defeat at Villarreal on April 28 before losing 1-0 at home to already-relegated Almeria last time out.
Rayo occupy 16th place in the table, eight points clear of the relegation zone with four games left to play, so they are in a strong position in terms of remaining in the top flight.
Valencia vs. Rayo Vallecano Head to head
In the previous 33 meetings between these two teams, Valencia have claimed 17 victories while Rayo have won seven, and they have drawn in nine. Rayo have scored 35 goals and conceded 64 in the process.
