Valencia vs Las Palmas Match Analysis & Prediction
21/10/2024 10:00 pm
La Liga’s bottom two will meet at Estadio de Mestalla on Monday night, as Valencia play host to a Las Palmas side still seeking their first win of the season.
After playing out a goalless draw against Leganes just before the international break, Valencia remain in crisis mode, with a worrying goal drought seeing them slip further down the table.
Ruben Baraja’s side have not scored in their last three La Liga matches, and it has been some 302 minutes since Dani Gomez found the net against Girona, en route to their solitary win of the 2024-25 campaign.
Stretching back to last season, Valencia have won just one of their last 16 league matches, losing no fewer than 10, and this campaign’s slow start leaves them occupying 18th position with six points so far.
Before the international break, Las Palmas suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo, extending their winless start to nine matches, leaving them in last position on three points, five adrift of safety.
That was enough for the board to sack Luis Carrion and appoint Diego Martinez as their new manager – the former Espanyol coach has signed a deal until the end of the season.
He faces a huge task to turn things around, as Las Palmas have not won any of their last 23 league matches, and failing to beat Valencia would see them equal the third-longest run in La Liga’s long history.
Furthermore, their most recent away victory dates back to January 20, against Rayo Vallecano, so the odds are stacked against Martinez as he heads to Mestalla.
Valencia vs. Las Palmas Head to head
In the previous 16 meetings between these two teams, Valencia have claimed eight victories while Las Palmas have won five, and they have drawn in three. Las Palmas have scored 17 goals and conceded 24 in the process.
