Valencia vs Cadiz Match Analysis and Prediction

Vacencia are looking forward to host Cadiz at the Estadio de Mestalla on Wednesday evening for a Copa del Rey quarter-final encounter.

The hosts are currently going through another disappointing La Liga campaign, while the visitors have even a worse situation and are struggling down in the relegation zone.

While there have been signs of improvement under new manager Pepe Bordalas this season, Valencia are now winless in their last four league matches which has seen them slip down to 10th in the table.

A game in the quarter-finals of the cup could be seen as a positive to focus on, but they also made very hard work of their progression through the early stages.

Valencia required extra time to defeat fourth-tier Arenteiro in the second round, a victory over Segunda Division Cartagena in the third round, and then run past Atletico Baleares 1-0 in the round of 16 through Marcos Andre’s goal in the opening minute.

Now facing La Liga side for the first time in the competition, they will likely have to up their game to reach the final four for the first time since winning the trophy during the 2018-19 season.

Meanwhile, Cadiz were finally promoted back to La Liga in 2020 after a 14-year exile, and secured a solid mid-table finish in their first campaign.

However, they have lost their momentum this season, and a seven game winless run saw manager Alvaro Cervera relieved of his duty at the start of the year.

They now have two wins and a draw in the three games since, one which was a penalty shootout victory over Sporting Gijon in the last round of the cup.

That result followed successive 1-0 victories over lower-tier teams in the previous rounds, and they will need to find a new gear if they are to defeat Valencia.
