Udinese vs Hellas Verona Match Analysis & Prediction
30/01/2023 10:45 pm
Udinese will be looking to stay within striking distance of the top six on Monday when they host relegation-threatened Hellas Verona at the Darcia Arena.
The hosts will be seeking just a second double over Verona in Serie A, but the visitors arrive having won two of their last three matches to revive hopes of survival.
After collecting just three points from their previous six matches played either side of the winter break, Udinese finall ended their winning drought last time out, as they beat struggling Sampdoria through a late goal from Kingsley Ehizibue.
Having beaten Sampdoria in Genoa after a 10-year wait, Andrea Sottil’s side are after successive league victories for the first time since October, when they posted six on the bounce amid spectacular charge into Serie A’s top four. Incidentally, the last of those wins came against Verona.
Udinese were one of several teams to benefit from the downfall of crisis club Juventus, so moved into seventh place after their victory at Marassi and they are among favourites to finish ‘best of the rest’ behind the division’s top six.
Following a 2-1 victory at Stadio Bentegodi in October, the Friulani could now win both Serie A matches against Verona for just the second time.
Apparently doomed for relegation under former head coach Gabriele Cioffi, Verona have now won two of their last three matches since Marco Zaffaroni became in charge, taking over from interim manager Salvatore Bocchetti – who is now one of Zaffaroni’s assistants.
Last week’s 2-0 victory over Lecce meant Verona had won as many league matches in the space of a fortnight as in their previous 21 attempts.
Gli Scaligeri could now achieve successive Serie A victories for the first time in a year, and with Zaffaroni’s side still sitting five points adrift of safety with half of the season played, he would dearly love to do so on Monday.
Udinese vs. Hellas Verona Head to head
In the 23 previous meetings between these two sides, Udinese have claimed nine victories while Verona have won six, and they have drawn in eight. Verona have scored 27 goals and conceded 33 in the process.

Udinese Team News
In addition to the longer-term layoff of Gerard Deulofeu, who will be out of action for several weeks, Udinese could be without Roberto Pereyra on Monday due to a minor injury.
Should Pereyra fail to recover in time, Kingsley Ehizibue would continue on the hosts’ right flank, while Beto and Isaac Success are set to patner up front in Deulofeu’s absence.

Hellas Verona Team News
Thomas Henry suffered an ACL injury last time out, so Verona have moved to acquire Ondrej Duda from FC Koln and CSKA Moscow’s Adolfo Gaich to boost their attack, but neither will feature in Udine after arriving on loan.
Ibrahim Sulemana should replace Ivan Ilic in midfield, while Giangiacomo Magnani is most likely to deputise for the suspended Pawel Dawidowicz in central defence.
