Swansea City vs Blackpool Match Analysis & Prediction

15/02/2023 10:45 pm

Swansea City play host to Blackpool at the Swansea.com Stadium on Wednesday night looking to end a three-game winless run in the Championship.
At a time when the hosts sit in 15th place in the standings, the visitors are now bottom despite avoiding defeat in their two most recent games.
After what has been perceived to be a woeful effort in the January transfer window, everyone associated with Swansea would have hoped that it would create further unity in some way.
However, Swansea have started February by letting slip two leads against Birmingham City to lose 4-3 and suffer a 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United.
Given his reputation, Russell Martin probably is not under too much pressure regarding his job, although that could change if Swansea drop closer to the relegation zone.
The current margin to the drop zone stands at 10 points, but Swansea have posted just two wins from their last 14 matches in the Championship.
That said, all but five of those matches have been played away from home, something which should be considered before automatically forming negative judgements about their recent progression.
Meanwhile, Blackpool make the long trip to Swansea having avoided defeat in their last two matches, but Mick McCarthy will have mixed feelings.
Points were earned in home matches against direct rivals in Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United, the perception being that it is two opportunities missed rather than two points gained.
Wigan’s victory over the former at the weekend has left Blackpool in bottom spot, yet they are just one win away from moving outside of the bottom three.
The Seasiders have not won on their travels in the Championship since beating Coventry City on October 29, a run that involves six matches.
Swansea City vs. Blackpool Head to head
In the 17 previous meetings between these two teams in two competitions, Swansea have claimed three victories while Blackpool have won eight, and they have drawn in six. Blackpool have scored 32 goals and conceded 18 in the process.
