Stoke City vs Huddersfield Town Match Analysis & Prediction
15/02/2023 10:45 pm
Stoke City play host to Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night looking for a win that will help them move further away from the Championship relegation zone.
Although the Potters sit 19th in the table, they are just six points clear of their 23rd-placed opponents, who can move out of the bottom three with a victory at the bet365 Stadium.
After the appointment of Alex Neil, Stoke fans had expected to be challenging for the playoffs at this stage of the season, yet their side are more concerned about dropping down to League one.
On the back of just two wins in 10 games, Stoke now sit just six points clear of the bottom spot ahead of facing opponents who can now be considered to be a direct rival.
Neil would have hoped that his side could have posted a morale-boosting win on Saturday, only for a goalless draw to be played out with Hull City.
Stoke are a good example of a team who can quickly build momentum to remain as outsiders for promotion, but they are losing that opportunity with every game.
Although the gap to sixth place is just 12 points, just 16 matches remain to conclude the campaign, and Neil his side will only be focused on ensuring that they give no further encouragement ti the teams below them.
Last week, Huddersfield parted ways with Mark Fotheringham in the hope that it would act as the catalyst for chage ahead of a contest against relegation rivals Wigan Athletic.
However, the Terriers suffered a late 1-0 defeat, subsequently allowing the Latics to move ahead of them in the table through their lengthy winless run being brought to an end.
Huddersfield’s winless run has been extended to seven matches, although with three draws included, and the interim manager Narcis Pelach is under no illusions regarding the size of the task ahead of him.
While he is taking the Terriers to play opponents who possess a poor home record, Huddersfield hold the worst away return in the division.
