Stevenage vs Northampton Town Match Analysis & Prediction
03/12/2024 10:45 pm
Stevenage will play host to Northampton Town at the Lamex Stadium on Tuesday in League Own as both sides look to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
The hosts are currently 17th with 19 points after 16 matches, while Northampton are 18th with 18 points through 17 games this season.
Stevenage are winless in their last five league matches and are four points above 21st-placed Leyton Orient, who occupy the first of four relegation spots in League One.
Last time out, Axel Revell’s side suffered a 1-0 home defeat to league rivals Mansfield Town in the FA Cup, and were unable to respond to Stephen McLaughin’s 48th-minute opener despite their 61% possession and 13 shots.
In their last league game, Stevenage were blunt in a different manner, and played out a dull goalless draw with relegation-threatened Leyton Orient in which they managed a measly single effort on goal.
Northampton are in a similar league position as Stevenage, and are a mere three points above the relegation zone having played a game more than their opponents on Tuesday.
Jon Brady’s side are winless in their last five matches across all competitions, losing two and drawing three in that period, including the goalless draw with Blackpool.
Last time out, Northampton suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Wigan Athletic in League One, a game in which the Cobblers were losing 2-0 at half time before Tom Eaves scored in the 56th minute.
