14/11/2023 10:00 pm

The two teams at the bottom of Group C of the EFL Trophy Southern Section will meet on Tuesday night, with League One side Stevenage hosting Crystal Palace U21.
Neither side can progress to the second round of the competition, with Wycomber Wanderers and AFC Wimbledon already securing their spots in the next stage from this section.
Stevenage have made an impressive start to the 2023-24 League One campaign, picking up 29 points from their opening 17 league matches, which has left them in fifth spot in the division.
Boro will enter this contest off the back of three straight wins, including a 4-3 victory over Tranmere Rovers in the first round of the FA Cup, with Port Vale or Burton Albion set to be their opponents in the second round of the competition at the start of December.
Steve Evans’ side also claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Wycombe in League One on Saturday, with the result making it five matches unbeaten across all competitions.
As aforementioned, Stevenage cannot progress in this competition, sitting third in the section on one point from two games, beating AFC Wimbledon on penalties in their section opener before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Wycombe last time out in the tournament.
Evans’ side are four points behind second-placed AFC Wimbledon, with Palace U21 at the bottom of the section on zero points, losing both of their matches in Group C.
Palace opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat at Wycombe on September 19 before losing 2-0 to AFC Wimbledon last time out, with the result eliminating them from the competition.
Darren Powell’s side will enter this contest off the back of a 4-2 defeat to Ipswich Town U21 on Friday in the Premier League Cup.
However, the Eagles have won their last two matches in the Premier League 2 against West Bromwich Albion U21 and Leeds United U 21, with a total of nine points from eight matches leaving them in 16th place in the table.
