St Johnstone will be looking to make back-to-back victories on the bounce in the Premiership when they welcome Livingstone to McDiarmid Park for their Matchday 32 tie on Saturday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
St Johnstone are coming of an impressive 2-1 win against Motherwell at home before the international break, with Callum Davidson’s side forced to fight from behind through Callum Hendry brace, which included a heroic 91st-minute goal.
While the win saw them regain much-needed confidence it’s too late for them to finish in the top half in this first phase with only two matches remaining. They sit 11th in the standings, eight points behind the 10th-placed Aberdeen and 10 points outside the top-half.
They will however hope to build on the victory as they look to get closer to the mid-table sides heading into the second phase to stand a better chance of salvaging their campaign.
Meanwhile, before the international break, Livingston recorded back-to-back defeats to Celtic and hearts in the Premiership, ending their three-match unbeaten run, which included a draw and two consecutive victories.
The slip-up saw the Lions drop down to the sixth spot, level on 37 points with the fifth-placed Hibernian while are just a point above all Ross County, Motherwell and St Mirren, and just two points above the 10th-placed Aberdeen.
They will therefore be hoping to bounce back to winning ways as they look to maintain their top half spot. Another slip-up on Saturday could leave them down in the 10th spot, something David Martindale will look to avoid by all means.
