Spezia prepare to take on Atalanta at Stadio Alberto Picco in their Serie A Matchday 36 tie on Sunday afternoon with kickoff at 13:30.
Spezia were left empty-handed again in Serie A when they fell to a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Lazio last weekend. They have now suffered three league defeats and have managed to claim just one point from the last 12 available.
They currently sit 16th in Serie A standings with 33 points from 35 games, five points above the relegation zone. With three matches remaining to go, the Aquilotti still need four points to confirm their top-flight survival. They will therefore look to bounce back on Sunday, but they face Atalanta who they haven’t beaten in their last four meetings.
However, Atalanta have also been struggling for form recently and they played out a 1-1 draw against Salernitana last Monday, needing an 88th-minute strike from Mario Pasalic to salvage a point. They have now just managed to win one of their last eight matches across all competitions, picking up three draws while suffering four defeats in the process.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side now sit eighth with 56 points from 35 matches, level on points with seventh-placed Fiorentina and three points outside the European places. They were once in contention for a Champions League finish, but a minimal run in the second half of the season has them in their current state and we think their poor form could continue this weekend.
