Sheffield United vs Oxford United Match Analysis & Prediction

17/12/2022 6:00 pm

Sheffield Wednesday will seek to return to winning ways in the League One race when they host Oxford United at Hillsborough on Saturday.
The Owls are two points outside the promotion spots after back-to-back draws and have not lost in England’s third tier since October, while their visitors have also not suffered a defeat in their last nine games in all competitions.
Sheffield Wednesday has had a mixed season so far. They have been consistent but failed to challenge for promotion due to consecutive draws.
However, they strengthened their position in the fight for promotion with three straight victories over Burton Albion, Accrington Stanley, and Shrewsbury Town, taking a league unbeaten run to seven matches and moving onto 40 points from 19 outings in England’s third tier.
They could not make that four on the bounce away at Derby County at the beginning of December, though, eventually leaving with a relatively pleasing point following a goalless stalemate.
As the U’s began moving up the table, they played Bolton Wanderers away in late November and won 4-0. They continued their good form by beating Port Vale 4-0 at home the following month before getting a big win against Exeter City in the FA Cup second round.
They beat Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup at home after progressing past Woking and Forest Green Rovers. They performed well in League One by drawing against Accrington Stanley 1-1 in early January.
