Looking to take the second-last step towards glory in the African Nations Championship, Senegal and Madagascar meet in Tuesday’s last-four contest.
Awaiting the winner of this tie in the grand finale in one of Algeria or Niger Republic, who face off in the other semi-final game.
Senegal got the better of Mauritania’s Lions of Chinguetti through a 1-0 scoreline when the sides met at Stade 19 Mai 1956 on Friday.
As a result, the Lions of Teranga have now won three of their four matches since the turn of the year having failed to succeed in any of their final two games of 2022.
Next up is the challenge of an opposing side who are yet to come out on top in any of their four previous meetings between the sides across all competitions.
Having fallen at the semi-final stage in their last continental competition, Pape Thiaw’s side will be keen to go one better this time around with a good number of their COSAFA Cup squad in action at the African Nations Championship.
Madagascar had far too much quality for the Mambas of Mozambique as they claimed a 3-1 victory at the Stadium Mohamed Hamlaoui on Saturday.
Romuald Rakotondrabe’s side have now won each of their five matches either side of the new year, conceding just three goals in that time and scoring 14.
Currently just one game away from reaching the final in their first appearance at this level, Barea now set out to make further history against one of the 2023 CHAN favourites.
Senegal vs. Madagascar Head to head
