Scunthorpe United vs Woking Match Analysis & Prediction
13/12/2022 10:45 pm
Scunthorpe United will be looking to get back to winning ways in the National League when the play host to Woking at Glanford Park on Tuesday.
The hosts head into the contest off the back of a goalless draw with Yeovil Town, while the visitors travel to Lincolnshire with a point to prove following a defeat at home to York City.
Scunthorpe will come into the encounter with Woking bereft of form and sitting 23rd in the National League standings, with 16 points from 22 matches played under interim manager Michael Nelson.
They have failed to win any of their last eight matches and look to be in increasing danger of being cut adrift in the relegation zone unless they quickly start to pick up results.
However, in their last game, the Iron were able to play out a goalless draw away to Yeovil, ending a run of six straight defeats which has given them some small cause for optimism.
That was a first clean sheet of the season for Scunthorpe, which only serves to demonstrate their issues in defence that have seen them concede 45 times across the league campaign.
Nelson will be hoping that his side can continue to show their defensive resolve on Tuesday, as they aim to make it two matches without defeat.
Meanwhile, Woking make the trip to Glanford Park sitting in fourth place and will be looking to strengthen their hold on a playoff position against Scunthorpe on Tuesday.
Darren Sarll has done an impressive work since taking over at the helm in March this year, helping to dramatically improve the fortunes of a team that finished 15th in the National League in 2021-22.
Despite that, Woking have won just once in their last four matches across all competitions, which will need to be addressed over the coming weeks.
Last time out, strikes from Sam Sanders and Lenell John-Lewis forced Woking to go down to a 2-0 defeat at home to York City.
Should the Cardinals recover and take all three points at Scunthorpe, they could move as high as third in the National League standings if other results fall their way.
