Santa Clara vs Sporting Braga Match Analysis & Prediction
05/01/2023 11:15 pm
The Portuguese Primeira Liga gets into action in the new year when Santa Clara and Sporting Braga meet at Estadio de Sao Miguel on Thursday.
Santa Clara were left without a point for the third successive game as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Gil Vicente when the sides met at the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos last Thursday.
That followed a disappointing group-stage exit from the Taca da Liga, where Santa Clara managed just one point from four matches to finish bottom in Group G.
Mario Silva’s side have now picked up three wins, four draws and lost seven of their 14 matches this season to collect 13 points and sit 15th in the league standings, one point above the relegation playoff spot.
Meanwhile, Sporting Braga handed high-flying Benfica their first league defeat of the season as they claimed a 3-0 victory when the sides met at the Estadio Braga Municipal.
That result came barely two weeks after Braga suffered a quarter-final exit from the Taca da Liga through a 5-0 defeat to Sporting Lisbon at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on December 19.
Jorge’s side enter the new year on a run of six wins from their last seven matches across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and keeping four clean sheets.
Os Arcebispos are currently third in the league standings after picking up 31 points from 14 matches, one point behind second-placed Porto and six adrift of league leaders Benfica.
Santa Clara vs. Sporting Braga Head to head
In the previous 18 meetings between these two teams across all competitions, Santa Clara have claimed three victories while Braga have won 10, and they have drawn in five. Braga have scored 34 goals and conceded 15 in the process.

Sporting Braga Team News
Ricardo Horta continued his impressive form in front of goal and the 28-year-old, who has six goals and four assists in 14 appearances, will be keen to add onto his tally.
We expect Jorge to name an unchanged back four of Nuno Sequeira, Sikou Niakate, Paulo Oliveira and Vitor Gomez shielding Matheus in goal.
