Sampdoria will welcome Lecce to Stadio Luigi Ferraris for a crucial bottom of the league game on Saturday evening.
Sampdoria have recorded a disastrous campaign in Serie A this season, with the side collecting only six points from their 14 games which has left them languishing second from bottom in the league standings.
The Blucerchiati were able to their first league game of the season, beating Cremonese 1-0 at away, three weeks ago. Since then the Genoa outfits have lost all their subsequent three league fixtures, with a 2-0 at Torino being the latest defeat for Dejan Stankovic’s men.
The Cremonese win was supposed to be their turning point, but now pressure has started to pile on Stankovic, who replaced Marco Giampaolo not so long ago. Stankovic will be desperate to see a turnaround in fortunes in this clash, but he and co have a lot to amend before kickoff.
Meanwhile, Lecce have not covered themselves in glory either, with the side picking up just two victories from their 14 fixtures and are currently hovering just above the relegation zone in the league standings. They sit 16th on 12 points, two places and five points above the drop zone.
However, the Giallorossi have been building momentum recently having first drawn 1-1 with Udinese on the road, before beating Atalanta 2-1 at home last time out.
They should therefore look to draw confidence from the run as they seek to climb further away from the danger zone.
