Ross County vs Hibernian Match Analysis & Prediction

31/01/2023 10:45 pm

Hibernian make the trip to face Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium on Tuesday looking to extend their Scottish Premiership unbeaten run to four matches.
While the visitors are occupting fifth place in the standings, their hosts are in 11th spot despite collecting four points from their last two games.
From Ross County’s perspective, it is all about trying to stay in the Premiership after losing 13 of their 23 matches this season.
However, they have collected five points from their four most recent matches, ending a seven-game winless run on Saturday by beating relegation rivals Kilmarnock.
That result represented the second time this season that Ross County had beat that opponent at Victoria Park, and it is currently the difference between the Staggies occupying 11th place rather than being bottom.
With three top-six teams to come in succession, Malky Mackay knows that could change in the short term, yet he and his team will fancy the chance of playing without the pressure that was on their shoulders at the weekend.
With Hibernian having recently put together a run of nine defeats in 11 league matches, it would have been easy for the club’s hierarchy to have parted ways with Lee Johnson.
However, Hibs have responded with their best period of form since the start of October, picking up seven points from their last three matches.
Off the back of losing to rivals Hearts in the Scottish Cup, Hibernian took advantage of Aberdeen’s dismal form on Saturday to give their campaign another kick-start with a 6-0 victory.
However, with the top two not to come in their next four fixtures, Johnson’s side must continue this run of form if they want to make a bid to catch third-placed Hearts, who are in control of the Europa League qualification spot.
Ross County vs. Hibernian Head to head
In the 28 previous meetings between these two teams across all competitions, Ross County have claimed 11 victories while Hibernian have won 12, and they have drawn in five. Hibernian have scored 35 goals and conceded 27 in the process.

Ross County Team News
Following their victory at the weekend, Ross County head coach Mackay will likely opt to name the same starting XI for this game.
Mackay was able to rest key men from the 65th minutes onwards, so regulars such as David Cancola and Jordan Tillson look set to remain among the replacements.

Hibernian Team News
Johnson may be tempted to name an unchanged Hibernian starting lineup, but it would not be a surprise if Kevin Nisbet returned to the side to replace Elie Youan down the middle of the attack.
Youan may be redeployed on the left flank in place of Aiden McGeady, depending on whether Johnson wishes to hand the 36-year-old a rest.
