Tromso IL will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to five matches across all competitions when they face Rosenborg BK at Lerkendal Stadion in the Norwegian Eliteserien on Sunday.
Having picked up 15 points from as many matches, the hosts are currently in 11th position and one place behind Tromso, who have played two games more.
Rosenborg are sitting just one point above the relegation zone after winning five, drawing three and losing seven of their 15 league matches.
They may have kicked off July with a narrow 2-1 victory over Odd, but Rosenborg could only take one point from their final two matches of last month.
Alfred Johansson’s side suffered a 4-1 defeat to Sarpsborg, before they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their most recent game against Fredrikstad following goals from Jesper Reitan-Sunde and Ole Saeter.
Having shipped 29 goals in 15 matches, Rosenborg currently have the third-worst defensive record in the top flight, highlighting a key area for improvement if they are to move away from the relegation zone.
However, they can at least have fared better in their recent home matches, picking up seven points from their last three league games at the Lerkendal Stadion.
Meanwhile, Tromso may be sitting just one point above the bottom three, but they will carry a significant momentum into the weekend after putting together a four-game unbeaten run across all competitions.
Tromso, who finished in third place last year, began their fine run of form with narrow away wins over Stromsgodset and KuPS in the Eliteserien and Europa Conference League qualifying respectively.
They went on to play out a goalless draw with Kristiansund, before they recorded a narrow 1-0 victory in Thursday’s second leg against KuPS, ensuring that they have now gone four successive games without conceding.
Tromso will be looking forward to Thursday’s first leg against Kilmarnock in the third round of Europa Conference League qualifying, but before they can turn their full attention to that tie, they must negotiate an away league game against Rosenborg.
The visitors will fancy their chances of taking something from the contest, having won three and drawn two of their last five competitive away matches.
