12/01/2023 11:00 pm
Serie B side Genoa will be looking to record an upset in the Coppa Italia when they make a trip to Stadio Olimpico to face top-flight outfit Roma on Thursday.
While the hosts enter the contest off the back of a draw with AC Milan on Sunday, Genoa claimed a 2-1 victory over Bari in their last league game on Boxing Day.
Roma have lost just one of their last nine matches, which came in a 3-0 defeat to Cadiz in a friendly game on December 16.
I Giallorossi went winless in their last Serie A matches before the break for the World Cup, firstly losing at home to Lazio before recording successive 1-1 draws away at Sassuolo and at home with Torino.
In their warm-up matches, they played out two draws before losing to Cadiz and then claimed two victories over Casa Pia and RKC Waalwijk in 1-0 and 3-0 scorelines respectively in their last friendlies.
In the resumption to league matters, Roma claimed a 1-0 victory over Bologna on January 4, before drawing AC Milan last time out, leaving them in seventh place in the Serie A table on 31 points from their opening 17 matches.
Meanwhile, Genoa head into the contest unbeaten in their last four Serie B matches, claiming three victories while drawing once, with the second tier having not gone to a break during the World Cup.
Genoa are currently sitting in third place in the Serie B standings, three points behind second-placed Reggina while they are six adrift of leaders Frosinone, and they placed well in the race for automatic promotion back to the top flight in the first attempt.
