Rio Ave vs Casa Pia Match Analysis & Prediction

16/04/2023 5:30 pm

Rio Ave will be looking to end their tow-game winless run when they host Casa Pia in round 28 of the Portuguese Primeira Liga on Sunday.
Having claimed a 1-0 victory on October’s fixture, Casa Pia will set out to complete the double over the hosts and secure their first away win since the turn of the year.
Rio Ave were left disappointed last Saturday as they played out a 2-2 draw with Portimonense at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao after letting slip their two-goal lead late in the game.
Prior to that, Rio Ave saw their two-game winning run come to an end on April 2 when they were beaten 1-0 by Benfica through Goncalo Ramos’ second-half effort.
Luis Freire’s side now return to the Estadio do Rio Ave Futbol Clube, where they are on a run of three wins in their four matches since mid-February while keeping two clean sheets and scoring five goals in the process.
Casa Pia were left with a bitter taste last Sunday when they fell to a narrow 4-3 defeat against Sporting Lisbon at the Estadio Pina Manique.
Despite efforts from Rafael Martins, Yuki Soma and Felipe Cardoso, former Barcelona man Francisco Trincao alsmost single handedly decided the game as he bagged a hat-trick, including Sporting’s 85th-minute winner.
Casa Pia have now lost three of their last four league matches – while scoring six goals and conceding eight – with March’s 2-0 home victory league strugglers Maritimo being the exception.
While Os Gansos set out to arrest their slump and keep their European ambitions alive, they have struggled for results on the road, where they are without a league win in six successive matches, picking up one draw and losing five of their six games since the turn of the year.
Rio Ave vs. Casa Pia Head to head
These two teams have previously met on just three occasions, where Rio Ave have claimed two victories while Casa Pia have won one.
