Real Betis vs Alaves Match Analysis & Prediction

18/02/2024 11:00 pm

European-chasing Real Betis will turn their attention back to La Liga on Sunday night, with Alaves their visitors at Estadio Benito Villamarin.
The hosts enter the contest off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the first leg og their Europa Conference League knockout-round playoff tie, while the visitors drew 1-1 with Villarreal in the league last weekend.
Real Betis have been in strong form in the league, picking up seven points from their last three matches, and they currently occupy sixth position in the standings, one point ahead of seventh-placed Real Sociedad.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are eight points behind fifth-placed Athletic Bilbao, so it is going to be difficult for them to finish any higher than sixth this season, and they have found it tough to secure regular wins, picking up maximum points in just nine of their 24 league matches.
Betis have only scored 28 times in their 24 league matches this season, which is the lowest record in the top six, while they have been draw specialists in La Liga in 2023-24 alongside Mallorca and Cadiz, having shared the spoils on 11 occasions.
Alaves have won just one of their last 11 league matches against Real Betis, while they have managed just two La Liga victories on their travels this season.
Real Betis have also lost just once at home in the league this season, demonstrating the size of Alaves’ task, but they will certainly be the fresher of the two sides this weekend.
Alaves have not been in action since playing out a 1-1 draw with Villarreal in La Liga last weekend, with the result leaving them in 12th position in the standings on 27 points.
Luis Garcia’s side are 10 points clear of the relegation zone at this stage of the campaign, and are also just two points behind Osasuna in 11th, so they have performed above expectations in 2023-24.
Real Betis vs. Alaves Head to head
In the 26 previous meetings between these two teams, Real Betis have claimed 12 victories while Alaves have won eight, and they have drawn in six. Alaves have scored 24 goals and conceded 31 in the process.
