01/02/2023 11:00 pm

Barcelona will try to increase their lead at the top of La Liga to eight points on Wednesday when they travel to face Real Betis. The two teams secured slender 1-0 away victories in the top flight last time, with Barcelona beating Girona and Betis coming out against Getafe.
Despite losing three consecutive matches–two on penalties–, Real Betis defeated Getafe 1-0 on Saturday to end their losing streak.
Borja Iglesias scored the winning goal in the 86th minute, ending his seven-game drought without a goal.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side is still in contention to qualify for next season’s Champions League as they sit sixth in La Liga and three points behind Atletico Madrid in fourth place with a game in hand.
Since suffering their only loss of the season, a 3-0 defeat at home against Bayern Munich in October, Barcelona has put together a 13-game unbeaten run and won each of their last eight matches.
On Saturday, they beat Girona 1-0 with a goal from substitute Pedri, who has scored three goals in his last four appearances.
After rivals Real Madrid lost their game against Real Sociedad on Sunday, Barca moved five points clear at the top of La Liga. They will now seek to extend their lead with back-to-back fixtures against Sevillian opposition in the form of Real Betis and Sevilla.
