Reading vs Swansea City Match Analysis & Prediction
27/12/2022 8:15 pm
Reading and Swansea City go head to head in the Championship on Tuesday with the two sides locked on the same points in the standings.
Before the Boxing Day fixtures, the sides sat in 12th and 11th places respectively, but are just two points adrift of the playoff spots.
Reading have endured the highs and lows of Championship football this season, mixing winning runs with losing streaks, yet supporters will still be pleased with their campaign after fearing relegation at one stage.
Last time out, Reading were outplayed by Birmingham City in the first half of their contest at St Andrew’s before a late comeback made a 3-2 defeat look respectable.
That loss ended a two-game winning run which had kept them in the top half of the table, and Paul Ince now needs to lift his side ahead of another important period.
Since suffering a 3-2 defeat in the reverse fixture to Swansea on October 18, eight of Readings’ nine goals have been scored in the second half of matches.
Swansea had been on a run of seven victories from nine matches not so long ago, moving the club into contention after they had been considerably behind Reading in the standings.
However, they are now winless in seven matches, with five draws during that run just about keeping Swansea in the top half and close proximity to the top six.
However, it is fair to sya that Russell Martin’s side have some momentum ahead of this contest after fighting back from three goals down to Coventry to earn an impressive draw at the Sky Blues.
All three goals came from the 68th minute onwards, and while Martin knows that his side have lost their way, that performance will only provide him with encouragement ahead of a tricky trip to Berkshire.
Reading vs. Swansea City Head to head
These two teams have previously met on 31 occasions across all competitions, with Reading claiming eight victories while Swansea have won 12, and they have drawn in 11. Swansea have scored 50 goals and conceded 40 in the process.
