Reading vs Coventry City Match Analysis & Prediction
10/12/2022 5:00 pm
Coventry City will be looking to make it five wins in a row when they resume their League Championship campaign with a trip to Reading on Saturday afternoon.
The Sky Blues have picked up 12 points from their last four matches to move into 12th position in the table, while Reading currently sit 13th, level on points with their opponents in this game.
Reading had been a Premier League club until 2012-13 when they were relegated to the Championship. Since then, the team has finished three times in third place and never higher than seventh in the second tier.
They were 17th this season with 21 points from 21 matches when their campaign was halted for the World Cup. It was Paul Ince’s first full season in charge, and the manager recorded his first win since October 22 in a 2-1 victory over Hull City immediately before the break in fixtures.
Coventry City won four straight matches before the campaign was halted, recording clean sheets in all four games against Blackburn Rovers, Watford, Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers.
The Sky Blues are currently 12th in the table but just two points off a playoff position heading into the next set of fixtures. Coventry has two games in hand on most sides in the Championship, having played only 19 times this term.
Mark Robins’s side has won three, drawn four and lost three of their ten away games in the league this season; they will face a Reading side with a fifth-best home record in 2022-23.
Reading vs. Coventry City Head to head
Both sides have 12 games against each other with hosts taking five wins while the visitors with three wins, with four games ending in a draw.

Reading Team News
Reading will be without forward Tom McIntyre, center-back Naby Sarr and goalkeeper Scott Dann for Saturday afternoon’s match against Cardiff City due to injury.
Midfielders Mamadou Loum, Baba Rahman, and forward Junior Hoilett have been away at the World Cup, so all three are doubtful for this match.
If Hoilett cannot play, then striker Shane Long could move into a wide area. Lucas Joao may also start in place of Carroll upfront if necessary.

Coventry City Team News
Coventry’s Fankaty Dabo and Martyn Waghorn remain sidelined with injuries. Coventry has had no players away at the World Cup, so manager Mark Robins has been able to work with the first-team squad during the winter break. Viktor Gyokeres will likely lead the line again after scoring nine goals in the Championship this season.
