Rangers vs St. Johnstone Match Analysis & Prediction
28/01/2023 6:00 pm
The Rangers will seek to keep their slim title hopes alive when they welcome St Johnstone to Ibrox on Saturday. The two teams locked horns in the Scottish Cup last week, with Rangers securing a slender 1-0 win to progress to the fifth round.
Rangers defeated St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup last Saturday with a 1-0 victory at McDiarmid Park.
Left-back Borna Barisic scored the only goal of the game in the 45th minute, ending a two-year scoring drought.
The Gers have put together an impressive run of form since Michael Beale took over as head coach, winning eight and drawing one of their last nine games across all competitions, scoring 20 goals in the process.
They host Partick Thistle in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup next month but first must turn their attention to Saturday’s Premiership clash with St Johnstone; Rangers have beaten each of their last four league opponents by an aggregate score of 10-0 at home.
Despite sitting nine points behind rivals and reigning top-flight champions Celtic at the top of the table, all hope is not lost for Rangers as 16 Premiership fixtures are remaining this season, including two Old Firm derbies.
Rangers will fancy their chances of success on Saturday against a struggling St Johnstone outfit, who have lost each of their last six matches across all competitions.
Callum Davidson’s men have recently lacked a cutting edge in the final third, as they have failed to score in three of their last four games and have registered just four shots on target in those three matches without a goal.
Rangers vs. St. Johnstone Head to head

St. Johnstone Team News
St Johnstone is still without defenders Murray Davidson, Chris Kane, and Ryan McGowan, who were all missing from the team’s last match against Rangers. Davison is unlikely to make many changes to his starting lineup. However, Wotherspoon, Carey, and ex-Rangers winger Jamie Murphy will be hoping to force their way back into the side after beginning on the bench last time out.
