Rangers vs Hibernian Match Analysis & Prediction
15/12/2022 11:00 pm
Hibernian will be looking to avoid a fourth defeat on the bounce in the Premiership and end a run of poor results when they make a trip to the Ibrox Stadium to take on Rangers on Thursday.
The hosts are currently sitting in second place in the league table, having played 15 matches to collect 33 points, nine points behind league leaders Celtic.
Rangers earned a point in their last Premiership match after playing out a 1-1 draw with St Mirren at The SMISA Stadium. Following a goalless first half, Jonah Ayunga opened the scoring for St Mirren in the 47th minute, but James Tavernier equalised in the 84th minute from the spot to ensure a share of the spoils.
Michael Beale’s side were last in action in a friendly match with Bayer Leverkusen on December 10, where Rangers claimed a 3-0 victory at home, which will be regarded as an ideal preparation as they get back to league action on Thursday.
In eight Premiership matches at the Ibrox Stadium this season, Rangers are unbeaten having recorded seven wins and one draw. They will be out to extend a 10-game home unbeaten streak dating back to May 8 against Dundee United, and they will be confident of doing so as they face a team currently struggling for results in the Premiership.
Meanwhile, Hibernian suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kilmarnock in their last league match at The BBSP Stadium Rugby Park, their third straight loss, which has left them in eighth place on 20 points, 13 points behind their opponents on Thursday.
Lee Johnson’s side will seek to address a poor run of results away from home this season, with six defeats and just two victories in league away matches. They currently find themselves on a four-game away losing streak, with the last time they did not lose away being on October 1 against Ross County.
In their last six league matches, Rangers have won three, drawn two and lost just one, while Heibernian have won just one and lost five.
