Queens Park Rangers vs Luton Town Match Analysis & Prediction
29/12/2022 9:00 pm
Queens Park Rangers play host to Luton Town at Loftus Road on Thursday looking for a win that couls see them move back into the Championship playoff spots.
However, despite Luton sitting four points adrift of their seventh-placed hosts in the table, the Hatters could leapfrog QPR with a victory on Thursday.
Given all the uncertainty surrounding Michael Beale, it became increasingly obvious that QPR required a clean break from the speculation that came with the highly-rated manager who has since moved to Rangers.
Now with that scenario having been brought to a close, Neil Critchley has been brought in and delivered four points from two games, including successive clean sheets.
QPR had not kept back-to-back shutouts since the middle of September, and Critchely will feel that his side are in prime position to pounce on some of the teams above them losing their way.
However, form at Loftus Road will prove key, and the Hoops head into the contest having lost their three most recent matches on home turf.
Luton Town recently found themselves in a similar situation to QPR as Southampton made an approach to secure the services of Nathan Jones, who also took the opportunity to move to a bigger club.
His repalcement Rob Edwards has had to bide his team to get stuck into the role, but the wait was made worth it as Luton shook off a last-gasp defeat to Middlesbrough in his first game to be on the right end of a dramatic finale against Norwich City.
Despite being down to 10 men, Luton scored an 89th-minute winner through Cauley Woodrow, moving the club to just two points within their fifth-placed opponents.
With that victory just Luton’s second in eight matches, Edwards will not be getting carried away, but the result was a crucial step to trying to get supoorters onside after his previous spell at rivals Watford.
