PSG vs Angers Match Analysis & Prediction
11/01/2023 11:00 pm
Paris Saint-Germain will look to return to form in Ligue 1 when they face Angers at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening.
The champions advanced in the Coupe de France courtesy of a 3-1 success over Chateauroux at the weekend, and Les Scoistes put their name in the hat for the next round after seeing off Strasbourg in penalties.
Paris Saint-Germain was held to a draw by Lens on New Year’s Day and saw their four-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 shrink to just two after 17 games.
The champions’ unbeaten start to the season was halted by Franck Haise’s charges, who scored twice through Adama Niane and Jonathan Bamba.
However, PSG bounced back against third-division side Chateauroux in the Coupe de France third round with goals from Juan Bernat, Carlos Soler, and Hugo Ekitike securing a 3-1 win for Laurent Blanc’s men.
Although the Parisians endured a miserable journey to Chateauroux, which would have been made all the worse by their defeat in Normandy earlier in the day, they’ll be looking to continue their phenomenal home form when they host Bordeaux later today.
Angers striker Abdallah Sima rose highest in his own box and the opposition’s box to strike the game’s opening goal before turning into his own net. Enzo Le Fee completed the Merlus turnaround with a thumping strike late on.
Amid their never-ending struggles to drag themselves away from relegation danger, Angers managed to join PSG in the draw for the fourth round of the Coupe de France.
However, attention quickly turns back to the fight for survival in Ligue 1, with defeat to Lorient leaving Abdel Bouhazama’s side in 20th place with a mere eight points from 17 matches – seven adrift of safety at the time of writing.
PSG vs. Angers Head to head
