Preston North End vs Tottenham Match Analysis & Prediction
28/01/2023 6:00 pm
Tottenham Hotspur’s quest for a first trophy in over 15 years continues on Saturday evening, as Preston North End waits for the fourth round of the FA Cup.
While Spurs edged past Portsmouth 1-0 in North London earlier this month, the hosts defeated Huddersfield 3-1 to book their spot in round four.
The leaky defense has plagued Preston North End this season, but the club got off to a good start in 2023 after three wins from four games in all competitions.
In the third round of the FA Cup, Florian Kamberi scored for Huddersfield Town before Tom Lees, Bambo Diaby, and Alan Browne scored for Preston North End.
Norwich City beat them 4-0 at home, though. Last weekend, they beat Birmingham City 2-1 at St Andrew’s with goals from Ryan Ledson and Alan Browne before Lukas Jutkiewicz scored for Birmingham City in injury time.
Unlike the entertaining four-goal spectacle that occurred at Deepdale in the third round, Tottenham’s clash versus League One side Portsmouth was a much more low-key affair.
However, Harry Kane would produce one moment of brilliance to settle the contest. The England captain thumped home a delightful winner to send Tottenham into round four and produced another sublime strike in Monday’s 1-0 success over Fulham.
Now, with Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer Jimmy Greaves on 266 strikes, Kane will have the record in his sights at Deepdale as Spurs attempt to end their hoodoo against lower league opposition in cup competitions.
