Portsmouth vs Burton Albion Match Analysis & Prediction

12/03/2024 10:45 pm

Portsmouth will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 11 matches when they play host to Burton Albion at Fratton Park in League One on Tuesdau night.
The promotion-chasing hosts are currently sitting atop the table, while Burton are hovering just above the relegation zone in 20th place.
Portsmouth may have extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches with Saturday’s goalless draw against Blackpool, but they would have been frustrated to leave Bloomfield Road with just a point after playing the second half with a numerical advantage following Jordan Rhodes’ red card.
However, Pompey are still well set to achieve promotion this season, with a five-point cushion to second-placed Derby County and a six-point advantage over Bolton Wanderers in third spot.
After winning each of their last four home matches, John Mousinho’s side will fancy their chances of beating Burton on Tuesday, especially as they boast an encouraging head-to-head record.
As for Burton Albion, they have picked up just one point from four matches since overcoming Leyton Orient in the middle of February.
Their winless run has been made up of one away draw and three home defeats, with their most recent loss coming against promotion-chasing Peterborough United at the weekend.
Although the Brewers are sitting just outside the relegation zone, they still have a useful five-point cushion over 21st-placed Cheltenham Town.
With Burton set to turn their focus to a tough challenge against Portsmouth, they can take encouragement from their recent form on the road, having avoided defeat in each of their last four away games.
Portsmouth vs. Burton Albion Head to head
