Port Vale vs Burton Albion Match Analysis & Prediction

19/09/2023 9:45 pm

Port Vale will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches across all competitions when they host Burton Albion at Vale Park for Tuesday’s League One match.
In contrast to their hosts, Burton have endured a slow start to the season, having failed to win any of their eight competitive matches.
The 2023-24 season may have started with a disastrous 7-0 defeat to Barnsley, but Port Vale have not lost since that result, having embarked on a nine-game unbeaten streak.
Impressively, they have picked up 16 points from their last six league matches, while they have also progressed through the first two rounds of the EFL Cup and won their first EFL Trophy game against Crewe Alexandra.
The Valiants were seemingly destined to play out a goalless draw with Northampton Town on Saturday, before substitute Ben Garrity scored in the 84th minute to help his side claim a fourth successive victory in League One.
Port Vale, who sit level on points with league leaders Exeter City, will carry significant momentum into Tuesday’s contest, and they will be looking to produce another strong defensive performance, having recorded clean sheets in all five of their competitive home games this season.
While the hosts are riding the crest of a wave, Burton are bereft of confidence after collecting just two points from their opening seven league matches.
After kicking off the League One campaign with three straight defeats, Burton looked to have turned a corner when they played out successive draws with Wycombe Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers.
Rather than build upon those two encouraging results, the Brewers experienced another dip, losing 1-0 to Exeter City before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Barnsley on Saturday.
As a result of their poor start, Dino Maamria’s side are one of three teams yet to win a League One game this season, and they are currently languishing in the relegation zone with three points separating them from safety.
Port Vale vs. Burton Albion Head to head
In the 15 previous meetings between these two teams, Port Vale have claimed seven victories while Burton Albion have won five, and they have drawn in three. Burton have scored 18 goals and conceded 25 in the process.
