Plymouth Argyle vs Crystal Palace Match Analysis & Prediction

29/08/2023 9:45 pm

Crystal Palace will kick of their 2023-24 EFL Cup campaign when they travel to Home Park to face Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night.
Plymouth Argyle were left disappointed in Saturday’s Championship match against Birmingham City, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat when the sides met at the St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium.
Since kicking off the 2023-24 Championship campaign with a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town on August 5, Plymouth have now failed to win each of their subsequent three matches, losing twice and drawing once.
Steven Schumacher’s side now turn their attention to the EFL Cup, where they progressed from the first round through a 2-0 victory over Leyton Orient at Home Park on August 8.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace head into the contest off the back of a decent start to the new Premier League campaign, having picked up four points from their opening three matches.
A second-half goal from Odsonne Edouard gave Palace a 1-0 victory over newly-promoted Sheffield United in the Premier League opener on August 12, nine days before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in their first home game of the season.
The Eagles responded to their defeat to the Gunners with a resilient team display at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday as they came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw against Brentford.
Roy Hodgson’s side will now kick off their cup campaign against an opposing side who have failed to win any of their last three meetings, losing twice and claiming one draw since a 2-1 victory on September 2008.
