Peterborough United vs Stevenage Match Analysis & Prediction

08/10/2024 9:00 pm

Peterborough United will welcome Stevenage to the Weston Homes Stadium for the second match on the bounce on Tuesday, as the two sides meet in Southern Group D of the 2024-25 EFL Trophy.
The hosts secured a dramatic 2-1 victory in this fixture over the weekend, with Kwame Poku scoring a 94th-minute winner after the visitors had equalised in the 64th minute, following an early sixth-minute opener.
Peterbrough have experienced a challenging start to their 2024-25 campaign, winning just five of their opening 12 games across all competitions, posting two draws and five losses in that time.
The Posh’s return home last weekend marked the end of a difficult period on the road, where they went three matches without a win, suffering two losses and a draw, as they beat Stevenage 2-1.
Darren Ferguson will be hoping they can build upon that result and victory on home soil once again as they face Stevenage for the second time in a matter of days, a side they have beaten in each of their last two encounters.
Stevenage come into this contest level on points with their hosts, having won four, drawn two and lost four of their initial 10 league matches, along with one win in the EFL Trophy and a defeat in the EFL Cup.
It did appear as though Alex Revell’s side were starting to build momentum in the past weeks with a draw and two wins in three matches, but a narrow loss to Peterborough brought an end to that stretch.
Revell will be hoping his side can bounce back and enact revenge against Peterborough on Tuesday, although they have failed to win on the road across all competitions this season.
Peterborough United vs. Stevenage Head to head
In the previous 12 meetings between these two teams, Peterborough have claimed five victories while Stevenage have won three, and they have drawn in four. Stevenage have scored 14 victories while they have conceded 18 in the process.
