Peterborough United vs Fleetwood Town Match Analysis & Prediction

Looking to keep their faint hopes of automatic promotion alive, Peterborough United will play host to relegation-threatened Fleetwood Town at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday night in League One.
Following back-to-back wins in League One – either side of their Wembley heroics over Wycombe Wanderers in the final of the EFL Trophy – Peterborough’s hopes of achieving a top-two finish are now in serious jeopardy after suffering a 5-0 defeat to Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium at the weekend.
Having lost three of their last five League One matches since the middle of March, Darren Ferguson’s side are heading towards the dreaded playoffs in successive campaigns, with Posh currently nine points behind second-placed Derby County, although Peterborough have played two games fewer.
One of Peterborough’s game in hand comes at the Weston Homes Stadium against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night, when the hosts will be looking to do the double over the Cod Army after their encounter at Highbury Stadium in December, with midfielder Archie Collins scoring the only goal of that game.
Peterborough have been the great entertainers in front of their own fans this season, scoring on 48 occasions during 21 League One matches at Weston Homes Stadium, with only third-placed Bolton Wanderers matching that goalscoring tally at their respective home ground.
Meanwhile, lowly-ranked Fleetwood managed to halt their six-game winless run at the weekend, putting two past mid-table dwellers Northampton Town at Highbury Stadium, keeping the Cod Army’s faint chances of preserving their third-tier status for a ninth straight season alive.
Keepeing his feet firmly on the ground despite Saturday’s win, Charlie Adam will be keenly aware that his side have still just won twice in their last 13 league matches, leaving Fleetwood a mountain to climb in order to avoid relegation, with the Shrews six points from 20th-placed Burton Albion with only nine points to play for.
Peterborough United vs. Fleetwood Town Head to head
In the 17 previous meetings between these two teams, Peterborough have claimed eight victories while Fleetwood have won seven, and they have drawn in two. Fleetwood have scored 19 goals and conceded 18 in the process.
