Perugia vs Venezia Match Analysis & Prediction
19/12/2022 10:30 pm
Perugia will be looking for a victory that will help them get on track and start the push away from the bottom of the Serie B table, when they play host to Venezia at Stadio Renato Curi on Monday.
While the hosts suffered defeat in their last league match away from home, the visitors head into the new week having taken all three points last time out on their own turf.
Perugia enter the contest off the back of a thrilling 3-2 defeat at the hands of Cagliari in their last league match at the Unipol Domus. While Leornado Pavoletti (two) and Gianluca Lapadula (one) scored for the hosts, Luca Strizzolo and Tiago Casasola scored for Perugia.
Fabrizio Castori’s side have now won one, drawn three and lost one of their last five Serie B matches, leaving them at the bottom of the division on 13 points after 17 matches, six points adrift of their opponents on Monday in the safety of 15th place.
Meanwhile, Venezia come into the contest on a much better run of form, having been unbeaten in their last four league matches, with three wins and one draw. They were last beaten in Serie B on November 12, when they lost 2-1 at home to Reggina, but they have since gotten on the right track.
Having not taken the break for the World Cup, Venezia came out on top in their last league match, claiming a 2-0 victory over Cosenza on December 11, with Domen Cmigoj and Tanner Tessmann getting on the scoresheet.
Venezia, as aforementioned, are sitting in 15th place in the league standings having also played 17 matches to collect 19 points, and they are five points adrift on eighth-placed Brescia, the last team inside of the playoff spots.
When these two teams last met in Serie B action back in July 2020, Venezia claimed a 3-1 home victory. Mattia Aramu scored from the spot in the 42nd minute before doubling in the 51st minute and Alessandro Capello netted the third in the 65th minute for Venezia, while Filippo Sgarbi found the consolation for Perugia in the 69th minute.
