Peru vs Paraguay Match Analysis & Prediction

Peru and Paraguay meet in a friendly encounter on Wednesday after both failed to reach the 2022 FIFA World Cup via South America’s labyrinthine qualifying process.
The teams convene in Lima, after the hosts missed out on a place at Qatar 2022 in an intercontinental playoff, and their visitors finished way off the pace – placing eighth in a highly-competitive CONMEBOL section.
Peruvian football fans were flustered when goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne made a series of mistakes during his team’s playoff match against Australia in June.
Peru lost on penalty kicks and missed out on a trip to the World Cup. Ricardo Gareca helped Peru end their 36-year drought in 2018 by leading the team to fifth place in CONMEBOL qualification.
Thus, eliminating more-fancied Colombia and Chile resigned as coach after the heartbreaking defeat. Juan Reynoso, who had coached Cruz Azul until July, was appointed Gareca’s replacement in August.
Paraguay’s poor performances in World Cup qualifying meant they finished third from the bottom in CONMEBOL. They won only three of their 18 games and scored 12 goals, the worst attacking record of all 10 teams.
However, Paraguay’s recent friendlies have resulted in wins over Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. In their most recent game, a goalless draw against Morocco at Seville’s Estadio Benito Villamarin, Paraguay held their own against a team who had qualified for the World Cup.
Peru vs. Paraguay Head to head
Both sides are 18 games against each other with the hosts taking ten wins while the visitors with four wins, while four games ending in a draw.
